Jamie Lynn ABC

We went down to the AR4T gallery Saturday night for Jamie's art show. I bid on a piece, but like everyone else I got out bid by one guy who bought the whole collection. I guess that's a Bummer High.

Quik trip to Mammoth

We headed to Mammoth for opening weekend on the Quiksilver bus and it was a good time. Whenever I get to go to Mammoth, and not drive, it's awesome! Opening weekend was one of the best they have ever had. The snow was awesome, the sun was out and the party featured The Sounds. Here are a few pics, that I didn't take.

Quik bus. Can you spot the super pro?

Burnside turns 20!

The first time I skated Burnside was back in '98. I was up visiting my sister in Portland, and my dad would drop me off in the rental car. "hey everybody, I'm the kook from So Cal coming to skate your spot." To my surprise, everyone was cool and I had a good time. I got dropped off every day for about a week. Good times. Anyway, happy 20th birthday Burnside. Check the article over at skate daily. I stole this photo from Skate Daily. Anyone who reads this blog knows I have built a few ramps in my day, but I admit, I've never used a chainsaw in constructing something to skate.

Ah the nude. Sort of

Went out palm springs for a bachelor party. On Friday when all the dudes were out golfing, I went by the skate park and took some turns in the replica of the Nude. It's fun, but not the same.
Despite the pool not being the same, the over all feel is just way different.
Oh well, FS over the stairs 15 years later. I'll take it. Of course, I'd rather it be 1995 and listening to Glue Gun and skating the real Nude with Luke Blais.

California Road Trip

Weddings, Puppies and Babies were the sights to see on this 1134 mile California, by way of Reno, NV roadtrip. More often than not, we hop in a plane and fly over all the goodness that is out there. The road can be grueling but with the right attitude, it can be awesome. Here is the breakdown.
Costa Mesa>Mammoth>Reno>Lake Almanor>Anderson>Sacto Airport>Cameron Park>Costa Mesa.
We headed out Friday night and got to Mammoth at 1 am. Woke up, had breakfast with my ol' man and hit the road to Reno. Stopped in to Pie-Face Pizza Co. and had an amazing Lunch with Pie-Face co-owner Robbie Sell and fresh UNR engineering student Peter Benchetler. Did a drive by on the ol' Alma mater and pinned it to Lake Almanor (God's Country) without a minute to spare. There were times when we thought we were going to be changing into our wedding costumes on the side of the road in the forest. The wedding, wow! Amazing setting and great times! Next morning we grabbed some coffee and Rev. Brusven and headed North to Anderson to check out a fresh litter of Spins. Still no word on if we are getting one or not. After that it was a mellow drive down to Sacto where we dropped off the always a good time Brusven and we head over to meet the new Latzen. Spent a fine evening and morning with the Latzen fam and then it was on the road south to Costa Mesa. The End.

Pie-Face Pizza Co.

Robbie Sell (yeah, that Robbie Sell, the one with the best FSBS's in Snowboarding, although I could not find an image online) and a couple other friends have opened a new Pizza restaurant in downtown Reno, NV. 239 W. 2nd St to be exact. The food is delicious and the beer selection is unmatched. We stopped in for lunch over the weekend on our long road trip to Lake Almanor, but that's a another post. Pie-Face will be having their grand opening party September 18th. Go there.

Love and Guts

Lance, where is your left arm?

I grew up watching the Bones Brigade videos. The Bones Brigade was on a different level and it wasn't until Public Domain, that the skating and skaters featured in the movies seemed accessible. Over the years I have had the opportunity to meet a few skaters, but last night was the first time I had the privilege of meeting Lance Mountain. It was amazing! What I knew from his on camera humor, is true to life. He is a funny and humble individual and when I asked him how has he kept skating and laughing through all the years, he replied with, "Pain, that, and Neil Blender." His answer floored me. Here I am talking to Lance Mountain, a huge influence in my life and he let's me know that Neil Blender is the motivator, one who I would have casually assumed as his peer. I asked Lance about mini Mountain, and he pointed over to the DJ, and said, "there he is, he is into music. We get to skate on Friday's together but that's about it." I remember the side by side editorial shots of the two of them skating in the mags. Anyway, it got me thinking about the 1 to 2 times a year that I go out and play golf with my old man. Thanks Lance for totally exceeding any and all expectations I had of meeting you. I barely slept last night.

Skate Pics Part 2

July 24, 2010

The party was an epic success. Heavy Skating went down and hundreds of Beers were drank. Thanks to all the Bros who traveled from far and wide by bike and by car to make it. Shoot, we even had a late evening Viking invasion. Here are some of the highlight photos. All Pics by Jared Eberhardt that were shot in between his gnarly runs.

July 4th part 2

July 4th 2010

The wife and I headed up to Mammoth to hang out with Family,Friends, celebrate the 4th and replicate summer time at Mt. Hood the best we could. Or at least that was my plan. First order of business was to get the 16oz Ranier's (like the serve at Charlie's) to Mammoth. My Brother-in-law Joe came up huge with 2 flats of the goodness. A sixer was already dusted by time I showed up! Anyway, next up was packing the days with as many activities as possible. The house was packed and the weather was beautiful, so I slept out on the deck and enjoyed the fresh air and star filled skys of the sierras. Below are a few photos of the Action.
